Recording diary video the upcoming new Space Mirrors album, "The Other Gods" album, the second in the "Cosmic Horror" series. Yea, for today is the official release date of The Linus Pauling Quartet's epic 3 CD Anthology & Druids and Demons Module: Assault on the Vault of the Ancient Bonglords.

The anthology is no mere 3 CD anthology sed but also a fully playable module in the style of the classic paper and pencil RPGs. Three CDs, a Module, and a 20 sided die. Limited edition of 100 physical copies and the remaining stock is available for sale on-line at ye olde CD Baby shoppe today!

THE STORY OF THE MODULE AND HOW IT CAME TO BE:

Prior to this date, only a few souls were deemed worthy and wise enough by Stephanus Finlus (the band's Level 9 Half-Elven Mage) for him to dispel the arcane lock spell set by him to protect the contents of the module. Yet, Lord Hightower, perhaps privy to dark omens or seeking his own enrichment, took umbrage at the will of the mage and sent his trusted servant, Clinton The Heiderian, to the land of Yarrl bearing with him a letter containing an urgent plea for the massive 420 page tome to be released for human scholars. In response, Finlus conferred with the Sorcerer of Sims and the High Toad Priest Council of Yarrl for much of the winter. While the council agreed with Hightower's arguments for releasing the massive 420 page tome, they remained suspicious of his aims and so High Priestess Phrowenia of Bosgin, proposed a novel solution - an enchantment that would reveal only those 28 pages deemed suitable for the commoner to most readers yet allow the remaining 392 pages to be revealed should the reader be privy to the ancient ways of the mystic and reclusive Wood Elves of Raliech,. Thwarted by this clever legerdemain, Hightower stewed in his castle, unable to unlock the full text and vowing to seek other means to attain his mysterious and well guarded ends.

Yet, it is by this turn of events that the Linus Pauling Quartet is able to bring you this module in its full form on this day. Buyers of the the limited edition set can hold the full 420 page tome in their hands while others can simply download a PDF from the band's website BUT A WORD OF WARNING - most readers will only see a mere 28 pages for the reasons explained above. Regardless of what you can or cannot see, even at the shorter 28 pages, the module is fully playable.

So grab some chips and Mountain Dew. Set up the dining room table. Pop on the three CD set (or downloaded MP3s) and get ready for the best 3CD Anthology / RPG game ever!

December 7, 2012, Los Angeles - Cleopatra Records is sad to pass on the news that Hawkwind guitarist Huw Lloyd-Langton has passed at the too-young age of 61. Huw had been bravely battling cancer for the past several years and died peacefully at home in England with his devoted wife Marion by his side.

A self-taught guitarist with mind-bending scope and range, Huw joined Hawkwind in 1970 and immediately made his mark by contributing his unique guitar stylings on the band's groundbreaking self-titled debut album. The album is considered historic in that it was one of the first space-rock albums to be released.

Shortly thereafter, Huw left the band to embark on his own musical journey but he continued to be an integral part of the Hawkwind sound as both the occasional band member and frequent collaborator with his Hawkwind mates on numerous occasions as the years unfolded. He was on-board for the albums Live Seventy Nine, Levitation, Sonic Attack, Church Of Hawkwind, Choose Your Masques, The Chronicle of the Black Sword, The Xenon Codex and this year's Onward.

Huw also toured with Leo Sayer in the 1970s and was a founding member of the acclaimed U.K. hard rock band Widowmaker, which released two well-received albums in 1976 and '77. He was adept at playing all styles of music - from hard rock to classical to blues - performing in the various genres with seamless ease and jaw-dropping talent.

In a statement, founding Hawkwind bandmate Nik Turner said, "He was a lovely guy and a great, great guitarist. I'm really sad that he's gone. Everybody who knew Huw liked him; he touched a great many people with his playing. I will miss him."

Huw was and will always be a much-loved member of the Cleopatra Records family. He had been a significant part of a number of Cleopatra projects including working with Kinks legend Dave Davies on a track for The Black Keys tribute album Black on Blues, and with Joe Elliott, Rick Wakeman and Carmine Appice on Who Are You, an all-star tribute to The Who. His innovative guitar work was featured on the Space Rock Invasion DVD taken from the 2011 Space Rock Invasion tour on which Huw participated, as he opened to critical applause for Nektar and Brainticket.

Cleopatra is preparing to release Huw's Rare & Unreleased Anthology in January, which will now be an amazing posthumous tribute to his work including never-before-heard solo acoustic recordings of songs later recorded by Hawkwind along with tracks from Huw's solo band.

Welcome to the October newsletter. Thanks to those who have written or asked about where the newsletter has been. To answer, for the last few months I have been focused on writing rehearsing and recording the new Escape Velocity CD. Finally...it is in the 3rd dimension and ready for your psychedelic listening pleasure. Here's a quick overview:

The Riffdisc Series continues with the October 2012 release of the new 8 song Cd, ESCAPE VELOCITY, the fifth and final instalment of the Riffdisc Series that began in 2005. As each release in the series focuses on a different aspect and approach to Nicks music, Escape Velocity is a hybrid recording. Nicks vocals and main guitar , with George Shiner from The Attitude on drums, were recorded live at Magnetic North Studio in Cleveland, Ohio by Chris Keffer. Chris produced Nicks releases for Delerium records in the 90s and has worked on projects with the Black Keys and Cheap Trick. At Oblivion Studio Nick recorded bass guitar, keyboards and synthesizers, super-imposing the tracks into the live takes. A final session at Magnetic North added a texture vocal track, saxaphone by Norman Tischler, and percussion by Angel Wolff. The mixing and evolution of the songs naturally flowed into the mastering sessions that developed the music from mind to perceptible manifest. 62 minutes of smokin' songs and psychedelic sounds...

PRODUCED BY CHRIS KEFFER. No pictures exist of the mysterious master mind who shaped the sonic sound effects for the headphone experience, and created the over all sound of the CD. Like me also an astronomy stargazer. The CD is a flowing cosmic trip with basic song structures that float off into space.

The song is from "In Darkness They Whisper" (TRANS097) album (Transubstans Records, 2012-08-01). It is inspired by "Silver Key" short story of HP Lovecraft and it reflects the sad and dreamy mood of the main character who grows up and loses the touch with a dream world of his childhood. Imagination is replaced by the harsh reality and prosiness of life. But what is reality? How can he revive the childhood memories and enjoy the stargazing again?

Space Mirrors - In Darkness They Whisper (TRANS097)

International Space Rock/Metal collective Space Mirrors was founded in 2002 by Russian multi-instrumentalist and producer Alisa Coral. Since that time Space Mirrors released three albums and featured many talented musicians from all over the world. Space Mirrors music is often inspired by Sci-Fi, alien conspiracies and esoteric topics. In 2011 Alisa Coral started composing the new album, called "In Darkness They Whisper". The songs of the new album are inspired by the metaphysical, cosmological and occult concepts developed by H.P. Lovecraft in his stories. The music combines elements from heavy and melodic space rock to epic/prog metal. It has more focus on delivering fine crafted tunes but not forgetting initial space rock fundament. Artwork is once again created by Kevin Sommers. The Hawklords laid down the final drum tracks for their brand new studio album (the first for 34 years!) entitled, " We Are One" at The Music Complex Studios, in London on May 1st and 2nd. The 15 songs are sounding really fantastic and the band is electrified with the results...

Comprising all brand new material, the album features key former Hawkwind personnel: the legendary synth man Harvey Bainbridge, keyboard wizard Steve Swindells, the rocking guitar of Jerry Richards, punk poet Ron Tree on vocals, the barnstorming bass of Adrian Shaw, plus Dave Pearce from The Bevis Frond on drums. The album also features two poems, set to music, by our friend, the poet, John Constable AKA John Crow. Many thanks to Mr Crow for his insightful contribution.
