Flying Eyes - "Done So Wrong"
(World in Sound 2011, WIS 2509)

From Aural Innovations #43 (October 2011)

This second CD release from the Flying Eyes - from Baltimore, Maryland is about as good as their self-titled CD that I reviewed for Aural Innovations (AI #41). The ten songs on this title had originated when the band played the famed German bash - the Burg Herzberg Festival in 2010 when they had notably shared the stage with Jeff Beck and Hawkwind. My only regret is I wasn't there. The band was also invited by German TV station officials at WDR to perform on 'Rockpalast'. Isn't that maybe sort of like the German version of Don Kirshner? Possibly even better. Done So Wrong has many well-penned tracks like the in-your-face full-throttled psychedelic rocker Death Don't Make Me Cry (with some rather killer guitar), the frolicking Poison The Well (would love to see this song performed on, say Jimmy Kimmel), Heavy Heart, Sundrop, the awesome Overboard - I thought this tune had sort of an Allman Brothers vibe to it. The wailing title cut Done So Wrong and Greed sort of reminds me of The Cult. I looked all over the Internet as I could not find the line-up for this CD, but I assume it's the same as the self-titled disc - here it is again: Will Kelly - guitar & vocals, Mac Hewitt - bass & vocals, Adam Bufano - guitar & organ and Elias Schutman - percussion. I wanted to mention that this second CD sounded a bit less like that of The Door's Jim Morrison - but it's all good. Check out some of the cool videos that fans have posted up on You Tube. Ideal for late-night viewing. It was stated on the bio / info sheet that Done So Wrong is recommended for fans of the Black Keys, 13th Floor Elevators and Danzig. Basically, if you dig psychedelic blues rock, you should check out sound clips of this title where provided.
