The Maharajas - "Sucked into the Seventies" (Crusher Records 2010, 7")

From Aural Innovations #41 (October 2010)

This amazing Swedish band is back with another 7” release on Crusher Records. It features 4 catchy and cool tracks and I really like the artwork as well. Down at the Pub starts things off and while the title of the 7” might suggest they are changing style and going to play some 70s style hard rock, it ain’t the truth. The band sticks to what they are good at and that is writing catchy 60’s inspired rock and roll. The track even includes a nice harmonica solo. Someone Looking like You is next is a bit Beach Boys inspired, complete with horns! Bing (and now your Hypnotized) starts the B side. This is a fast paced track and my favourite track. Stickers and Pins is a funny track about how to promote your band in the old days before the internet.

While the band don’t offer anything new in rock and roll, they write great 60’s rock songs. Excellent band.
