Antenne - "#3"
(Helmet Room Recordings 2008, HR0020)

From Aural Innovations #40 (September 2008)

Antenne is the critically acclaimed solo project of Copenhagen's Kim G. Hansen, who formerly recorded as half of the Danish industrial duo Institute for the Criminally Insane. Marie-Louise Munck also participates on the project as a vocalist on most of the songs. This is their third full length release and their first release on Helmet Room Recordings.

LONG TO KISS: Pretty, hypno-electronica beat, lush female vocal. You can hear the Portishead comparison but this is not as engaging, but good/interesting! The combination of Industrial drone howl with pretty female vocals is nice! Not the most original thing, but nice! GLOVES ON: More lovliness, starts to grow on you! The CD doesn't say who's playing the instruments, maybe it's sampled? Some nice guitar and bass, but you can never quite make out the words, but nice! DAYS INTO NIGHTS: 50's sci-fi intro with strummy guitar and piano. The vocals are very bassy and reverby so it's impossible to make out any of the words, but still very pleasant music. Sleepy time dreamtime, losing consciousness music! TTREAA#7: Static and drones. A bit more uptempo and experimental. Yes, very nice! BLUE LIGHT: More atmospheric space sounds with some guitar noodlin! Drum machine patter, now the vocal, I can't tell it it's Kim G. or Marie-Louise?! ERNST: Piano with industrial drone, fern bar music for 2030. It's more original than Aerosmith! Maybe it's just me, but this is possibly the most boring song I've ever heard!? END: More pretty music and pretty vocals. Yes, let it end! ALL OF US: Droney guitar and piano. It's over now and I can get on with my life!
