Ethereal- Beyond Neptune
(Chloroform Records CHL-005)
From Aural Innovations #37 (Sep 2007)
This CD took 7 years to complete and is a who’s who of the American east coast Space rock scene. It was masterminded and put together by extraordinary musician, Richard Orlando from Alien Planetscapes. There is a very long write up on the myspace page link below describing each and every song on the CD but I will give you an overview. There are several synthesizer pieces at the beginning, middle parts and end of the CD with various players like Doug Walker (RIP), Doug McMahon (Scattered Planets), and Paul Williams (Quarkspace). The music has a wide variety of stuff ranging from Electronic Music, SpaceRock, Ambient, Psychedelic Folk Rock, and Krautrock. It features three female vocals (Lana and Robin Cook, Lynnette Shelley) that have fantastic voices. The CD is a loose concept concerning the gradual decay of Planet Earth & the journey to find a new pristine home in deep space, free of all the pollution, contaminants & nuclear destruction. A fantastic journey…..
