Asteroid- Asteroid
(Fuzzrama Records 006)

From Aural Innovations #36 (May 2007)

The Swedish band Asteroid are back with their first full length CD and wow do they have a different sound on some of the tracks compared to the split CD with Blowback, but still cool. The first major change is the huge organ sound used on a few tracks and the sort of King Crimson meets Uriah Heep sound of the opening track, The Great Unknown. Guitarist Robin has played all the organ.. Not sure how they will pull it off live?? Anyway, the large heavy fuzzed out bass and guitars are still there and the band stretch most of the tracks to between 5 and 6 minutes. This is a record you have to be patient with and give it some time to suck you in. There are not many really fast paced in your face tracks here. The band have a couple of instrumental tracks as well like The Infinite Secrets of Planet Megladoom and Little Fly. I really dug the acoustic track, Water. The weakest track on the CD is Strange Trip, which is so much QOTSA. Like a bad cover.. The last few tracks on the CD are really cool and feature some guests as well on harmonica and vocals (The 13th Witching Hour). This is a great CD and will grow on you..
