Vic du Monte's Persona Non Gratis
(Cargo Records CARCD071)

From Aural Innovations #32 (November 2005)

This is Vic's second release in Europe in a year and we caught his act live back in April at RUST when the band opened for Brank Bjork and The Bros. While Vic is trying to ride the wave of his fame from playing with Kyuss, this is something completely different from those roots. The opening track is some sort of strange bluesy garage rocker with drunken-retarded sounding vocals. Strange vocal style. "High on the Sly" is next and quite a melodic rock track. Vic has a unique vocal style that mixes a bit of Glenn Danzig (Misfits) style with his own blues grovel. There are some cool lyrics and great tracks here ranging from influences of country, rockabilly, punk and pure rock and roll. A great platter of moody music.
