Andrei Suchilin - "Iki"
(R.A.I.G. 2004, R008)

From Aural Innovations #31 (June 2005)

I reviewed one of Andrei's earlier works (Quasiland), which was excellent (see AI #28). This is completely different. This is much more experimental and minimalist and very hard to describe. The first track is 35 minutes and quite a journey with lots of strange soundscapes developing. The middle track, at only 3 minutes, is a very bizarre mixture of electronics over the top of a sort of lightly funky bass line and drum. Strange. The last 18 minute track begins with electronic oscillations and slowly, very slowly, some other sounds and samples appear. Very odd and experimental for sure. I have never heard anything quite like this so it is hard to describe. If you like strange electronic oscillations and have an open mind, give this a try.
