Earthloop - "Grounded" (self-released 2004)

From Aural Innovations #29 (October 2004)

Remember the UK band, the Moonloonies or Shockhead?? Well, Simon Perks (Cosmo) has moved to Switzerland and has released this music inspired by the good old 80’s UK space-psych scene. The tracks on this CD were recorded between Oct 2003 and May 2004. The journey begins with some simple sequenced synth lines and drums from which the bass line and female voice are applied. It starts with a slightly spaced and happy beginning. It evolves into the next track (no titles were given!) with a more upbeat electronic groove. There is very little guitar, only a bit of acoustic guitar here and there. A short track with a cool bass line follows. This is followed by Just a Frog in the Blender (this is the chorus, might be the title??). It features some cool spacey synthesizer stuff. A funky track is next with organ and tabla like drums. That is all I could tell you as the CD gets stuck with -14.21 seconds left out of 31 and there are no track marks. I wish the band could have checked the CD, but that is life. Overall, this is a pretty cool CD of laid back synthesizer driven music with nice female vocals.
