The Painted Air - 4-song single
(Swamp Room Records 2003, bestellnr. 3868-18, 7" vinyl)

From Aural Innovations #24 (July 2003)

From Hamburg, Germany, The Painted Air play psychedelic garage-pop that I swear you would believe was recorded in the 1960's if you didn't know better. "Take A Drive" and "Money, Sex & Faith" are the power psych-rock tunes of the set with raw, angry vocals and ever so scrumptious psych guitars. Just dig those yeah-yeah-yeah background singers on "Take A Drive". "Dark Side" and "Evening Breeze" are the more mellow soulful tunes, though a psychedelic undercurrent lurks at all times. The songwriting is top notch on all four of these songs and there's little question these guys could have cranked out hits in the 60's. Absolutely outstanding and a must have for the retro crowd. And of course it comes on the high quality 10 gazillion gram thick as a brick vinyl that Swamp Room is known for, with it's beautiful colored artwork.
