Autocad - "Chill Out" (The Open Music Registry 2002, CDR)

From Aural Innovations #22 (January 2003)

Autocad produce some pretty cool ambient-electronica for the mind. This is a group that has produced over 500 songs in the last 20 years. Several of the tracks on the CD are remixes of other artists material such as Phitz, Micah, Flute Tears, Shapethrower and Lemon Melon. The opening track Renewed by Phitz but remixed by Autocad, reminds me of a track on this great 12 CD box set called Space and Bass, released 4 years ago. I wish I could place the group. I really liked the track Limbo 95 with its sort of digeridoo based rhythm and the guitar solo. It seems that nearly all the Autocad original not remix tracks contains some guitar. I liked the way a guitar solo would just sneak up out of the sound and wrap around in the sound. This works very well. While most of the material is fairly upbeat ambient, there are a few songs like Atmos-G92, which truly fit the title of the CD, Chill Out. A good mixture of material for the late night Chill.
