Tzefa - "Feed Me"
(self-released 2002, 1640)

From Aural Innovations #21 (October 2002)

How did we get this at Aural Innovations? The bands name means Viper in Hebrew and they play melodic thrash metal. The band is a group of five young immigrants from Russia, Latvia and the Ukraine who all live in New York. The female singer sings in quite a high operatic register that really bothered me. I like the addition of her violin playing on two of the four tracks. The opening track, "Time Bomb" has a very cool bass part that I could not quite figure out how they got that sound. All four songs are different but you can tell these guys lived on a diet of 80's heavy metal. I think the band are quite young and need some more time to find their own sound. The addition of violin and operatic female vocals are nice but the underlying music and thin production require some more work.
