Hot Rod Moses - Stengade 30, København 5/19/02

From Aural Innovations #20 (July 2002)

It has been since Sept '99 since I last saw this band, which features the bass player Nik from On Trial. The band play surf punk with a psychedelic twist. This was a 10" release party with free beer! The other band was from Italy and had driven all the way up from Torino just for this concert. It was the first time most of the band had ever left Italy I was told! Anyway, right at 11 the band ripped into "Hot Rod Moses". Man, they sounded great and very alcohol fueled! Steiner was a mad man. He is the lead singer and guitar player. Next was "Lada Lambada", where they were singing Lada bin Laden, instead. They had a new Swedish organ player and he was really great. He added some really cool spacey sounds and effects to some of the songs, which I really liked. The Italian band was totally into the band and everytime Steiner would talk to the audience in Danish, they would yell out, in English! Quite funny. "Queens Of Outer Space" was an excellent new song that I had not heard. It was fun to hear some of the old ones but I was glad that they had new ones, unlike Elektrum, whom has been in town the last two weeks, apparently still playing the same set every night for the last 6 years. Great band but I am tired of them not having new songs. Sorry to get off on Elektrum. The band were sweating like hell and having a great time but only played 33 minutes. Great fun. I had to run off to meet the Norwegian band, Seid, so I missed the Italian band. Set List: Hot Rod Moses, Lada Lambada, Gypsy Wildcat, Queens of Outer Space, Viagra Stomp, Technicolor Dog, Firefly Twist, Torino Twangster, Los Lost Lust
