Misty Shade of Green - "Out from the Storm" CD-EP (Finland)

From Aural Innovations #19 (April 2002)

This is a young 3 piece band from Helsinki, Finland. The band take some influences from Finnish bands 5.15 and Kingston Wall, as well as Led Zeppelin. This is not stoner rock at all but more straightforward rock and roll with a psychedelic element to it. Niklas Rautio (guitar and vocals) sounds a bit like Petri Walli but his voice is more high pitched. Always happy sometime times Laughing starts the CD and is a good strong number. Misty Psychedelic Shade of Green is very Led Zeppelin inspired. Niklas plays quite a good guitar as well. Mother Earth Is Crying is a very Kingston Wall inspired song and I really like the dreamy vocal guitar line mixture. I really like the cool talkbox solo in this song that melts into the psychedelic guitar and vocals. The one who has the right to dispose of it is the one who has created it, closes the CD and has an excellent heavy guitar riff and I really like this song a lot but the chorus (aha aha aha) section of this song really is horrible and totally detracts from the rest of the excellent song. Quite a promising debut.
