Stormbringer - "The Fiery Furnace" (STB 002 DENMARK 2001, CD)

Stormbringer are a Danish heavy metal-stoner-groove band. The bands roots are in the DOOM metal genre but have moved much closer to the sound of a band like Spirit Caravan meets old Soundgarden. The unfortunate thing about all their releases is they suffer from a poor sound production. They have yet to find someone to capture the powerful sound they have live (I have seen them twice). As for the songs, they are quite solid and excellent rock and roll numbers with a good groove and hook. The production just has no balls or these songs would really kick you in the balls. Coming Through starts the CD off with a slow heavy guitar riff and quite a solid number. Let Me Inside is the best song on this CD and has a great catchy guitar and vocal hook line. Mikkel can really sound like Matt from Soundgarden at times (not a band thing!) Excellent song. The Last Words is a slow groovy Spirit Caravan-like song. Fast Bleeder is a very Black Sabbath inspired song. The Endless Way To You ends the CD.
