Davenport Records news: Those who brought you Phoebe Cates and Channel are scheduled to do a large web site re-launch on Sept. 25th for http://www.davenportrecords.com. The new site design will include a lot more interaction for the users, an on-line catalog guide and shopping cart, mp3 and QuickTime downloads, and a lot of bells and whistles to make it look extra fancy.

Cranium news: Lamp Of The Universe (project name not CD title), a solo project from Craig Williamson who was the bass player/writer in the band Datura is schedule for release in early 2001. On his new material Craig plays all instruments including sitar, tablas, rainstick, keyboards, drums & guitars. With titles like "Lotus Of A Thousand Petals" & "Born In The Rays Of The Third Eye" etc you can tell where he's at. Finally some psychedelic music from New Zealand! Cranium is also releasing a CD by two guys who go under the name "The Fynde". They play early 70's Klaus Schulze & Tangerine Dream influenced sounds and again are from New Zealand. They have been together since 1979 but never released anything because noone has shown any interest. All it took was them to send Cranium two demo tapes and they were hooked. In that typical kiwi fashion they are off for a spot of fishing soon in some remote place down country and in between fishing they will be recording music to 5 DAT tapes which we will then go through and select the best material to release as their first album.

The new Lothars CD "Oscillate My Metallic Sonatas" reaches stores Tuesday, Sept. 19. If your local mom & pop music store doesn't have it, tell 'em to contact Carrot Top, Parasol, Southern, or Surefire, all of whom are fine independent distributors. The Lothars recently made it easier to order stuff directly from them. They now accept PayPal, a nifty free service that allows them to take credit cards.
